Before we became HYLA UK, we were already HYLA fans. In fact we became HYLA UK because we found we could not buy a HYLA in the UK. We thought it would be interesting to record some of our experiences of owning a HYLA here. You may not believe some of the things our HYLA has done, unless you already own one yourself. If you have your own stories to tell about owning a HYLA, we would be happy to add them here.

"I was having a shower, and had forgotten I was still wearing my expensive earrings. I knocked an earring and it dropped straight down the plughole. After my shower, I was worrying over how to get my earring back, when my son had the idea of using the Hyla. I put the end of the hose over the plughole and switched on. Almost instantly, all the contents of the shower U-bend were in the Hyla's water bath - including my lost earring."

In February 2007, Kate's son, who was working part-time at the local leisure centre while at college, was asked to vacuum clean the bowls mats ready for a big match. The bowls team had been complaining regularly about the poor state of the bowls mats. The vacuum cleaner belonging to the leisure centre was a common one, which was just not up to the job. Kate's son therefore came home and collected our HYLA and started to vacuum the mats with it. It took him over two hours, but at the end, the HYLA was still working just as well as when he started, and the mats visibly changed colour as several years worth of dust were removed from them. That is what you get when there are no bags or filters to clog up.

"Firstly, the machine is wonderful in many ways as initially demonstrated by you. We had one guest recently who has an allergy to dogs, and had even been rushed to hospital a few years earlier. However, she really wanted to stay with us because she just loved the Rattray Head beach and dunes. We have two large long-haired dogs who freely wander upstairs and downstairs throughout the house, and we had had two guest dogs staying in that very bedroom a couple of nights previously. So, we used the Hyla to clean the carpets throughout, then ran it for 15 minutes to clean the air in our lounge and again in her bedroom. At breakfast the next morning she happily reported no symptoms whatsoever, and in fact had slept better than usual with much cleaner air than she is used to back home in London."

In November 2006, my daughter and her boyfriend moved in to their new home. The house had previously been rented out, and the plain green carpet throughout was dotted with odd stains, probably coffee. We took our HYLA over to help them clean up the place, and had a go at the coffee stains. This involved pouring a glass of hot water over the stain, and then using the HYLA to suck up the dirty water. The stains were soon history. (It would have been quicker and easier with the Wet Cleaning Attachment, but we had not been warned to bring it)
